MATCH PREVIEW: BATH CITY (H)

After a last-gap 2-0 win away at Dartford in which Charles Clayden bagged a brilliant brace, we turn our attention to tomorrow afternoon where we welcome Bath City to Meadow Park as Ross Jenkins’ men kick off our 2024/25 Vanarama National League South campaign, a campaign in which we aim for promotion back to the National League. We need your support tomorrow, Wood Army. Get behind the lads as they look to make a winning start to the season!

Our opponents from Somerset had a successful 2023/24 Vanarama National League South campaign as manager since 2017, Jerry Gill’s side finished 6th, securing the Romans a place in the play-offs. Despite the side falling to eventual play-off winners, Braintree Town, Bath City will no doubt be hopeful of another successful campaign this time round.

Bath City: L-L-W

The Romans have experienced a mixed pre-season which opened with a low and ended on a high, as Jerry Gill’s side suffered two losses and picked up one victory. Bath City kicked off their pre-season with a home tie against Cheltenham Town of League Two but ultimately fell to a narrow 3-2 loss. This was followed by another narrow loss for Jerry Gill’s side, this time at the hands of League One side, Bristol Rovers where the Pirates came away from the tie with a 1-0 win over the Romans. However, in their final pre-season outing, Jerry Gill’s side would bounce back from the two defeats prior as they faced another League Two side in Port Vale and came away from the tie with a 1-0 win.

ONES TO WATCH

Scott Wilson:

31-year-old, Scott Wilson, formerly of the likes of Notts County, Oldham Athletic, Dagenham & Redbridge and Aldershot town, joined the Romans in July of 2022 and has since bagged 36 goals for the club, 17 of which coming last season. Wilson was Bath City’s second top scorer last season behind Cody Cooke and will no doubt be looking to improve on that this season. The 31-year-old forward will likely be a key consideration for Ross Jenkins in his squad’s final preparations for tomorrow afternoon.
