Tomorrow afternoon, The Wood travel to West Yorkshire to take on Halifax Town at The Shay. Our previous meeting with The Shaymen came back in August at Meadow Park where Luke Garrard’s side won by 2 goals to nil. Kwesi Appiah opened the scoring for The Wood with a header, of course, and was followed by Jamal Fyfield grabbing the second. Chris Millington’s side currently occupy 9th in the table on 53 points, with The Shaymen having accumulated 14 wins, 11 draws and 11 losses at this stage in the season.

Halifax Town – L-W-W-W-W

Halifax Town currently sit 4th in the form guide for the Vanarama National League, earning 12 points in their previous 6 league matches, winning 4 and losing 2 in the process. After opening their February with a loss at home to Aldershot, Halifax Town hosted Solihull Moors at The Shay. All 3 points would, however, go to the West-Midlands side as The Shaymen were dealt a 3-1 defeat. Chris Millington’s side would then respond in style as they embarked on a 4-game winning run, starting with a trip to Dorking Wanderers where Halifax came away 3-1 winners against Marc White’s, largely thanks to a brace from Max Wright. The Shaymen would then face Maidenhead United in a game which saw a dramatic ending. Adan George drew first blood for Halifax inside 7 minutes. The Yorkshire side would hold their lead until the 78th minute where Maidenhead levelled the scoring through Sho-Silva but, as it looked like the points would be shared, forward, Aaron Cosgrave won it for the home side in the 8th minute of stoppage time. This was followed by a 2-1 win over relegation battlers, Woking thanks to first-half goals from Luke Summerfield and Florent Hoti and a narrow, 1-0 victory away at Dagenham which saw 22-year-old, Andrew Jose Oluwabori grab the winner. This would be where Chris Millington’s side’s winning run came to an end, however. The Shaymen travelled to the South-East corner of London on Saturday to take on Bromley but would travel back up the A1 empty-handed after a game which saw a brace from Bromley forward, Corey Whitely and players from both sides handed red cards.

ONES TO WATCH

Max Wright:

25-year-old winger, Max Wright, who re-joined The Shaymen last summer following a loan spell in West Yorkshire and has previously featured for the likes of Harrogate Town and Grimsby Town, has been a key element in his sides National League campaign so far. The winger has chipped in with 4 goals this season with 2 coming away at Dorking Wanderers. Wright provides a large threat on both sides of the pitch, both on the overlap and when cutting inside. Predominantly operating on the right-wing, Wright is sure to test Femi Ilesanmi and the rest of The Wood back line at The Shay tomorrow afternoon.
