After post-Christmas consultations regarding next season’s match-day and season ticket prices, Wood Chairman Danny Hunter, Fans Liaison Officer Grant Morris, and Ticket Manager Loretta Browne have decided to postpone any further talks until March. This delay is necessary as they need to consider additional factors that will only become known by then.
In the meantime, Wood Chairman Danny Hunter has proposed an early-season ticket initiative for all existing season ticket holders, including adults, OAPs, and those over 70. They can choose to lock in their 2024/25 season ticket price at this season’s rate with a down payment of just £15 before the end of February.
The Wood Chairman stated, “I’ve sat down with Grant Morris, Loretta Browne, my Finance Director Ciara Dyer, and my Executive. I’ve examined what my next season’s investment and match ticket prices might look like. However, as supporters can appreciate, there are still too many uncontrollables at present for me to consider before finalizing next season’s entry prices.
“As a long-serving club owner, I understand more than most that I have a duty of care to our town, our local schools, and our fan base to make football at our level as affordable as possible. However, I still have to balance books and make significant staffing decisions over the coming months. I don’t want to rush into making a wrong decision at this stage and will not start looking at next season’s entry prices until March at the earliest.
“By then, I’ll know any first-team overspend. I would have decided on my own investment levels and worked out how each departmental budget might look like. My Commercial Executive will also have a good steer on next season’s sponsorship interest. My Bar Manager will have her indicators into function levels and wet sales, and by then, we’ll know how Astro Hire has gone this season and how next year’s Academy enrollments have gone.
“These are all firm indicators that guide me intelligently and ensure that our football club is always run in an intelligent, solvent, and orderly manner. That said, in the short term, I will commit to underwriting a supporters’ loyalty scheme, creating an initiative to reward all existing season ticket holders with a £15 ‘fix my season ticket price.’ This means that those who commit now have certainty that next season’s ticket price stays at this season’s price,” concluded Hunter.
