3 November 2023

Eastleigh vs Boreham Wood
Saturday 4th November 2023, 3.00pm
Silverlake Stadium, Emirates FA Cup 1st round

PREVIEW

For the third year running we have drawn Eastleigh in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup, however the previous two meetings in the competition were at home. Tomorrow we will head south to the Silverlake Stadium.

Eastleigh beat Dover 1-0 at home in their fourth qualifying round fixture thanks to a Charlie Carter goal. The midfielder then joined Dorking Wanderers for an undisclosed fee not long after the fixture.

In the league, Eastleigh started without a win in their first 5 games. Lee Bradbury departed the club at the end of August which saw Richard Hill take the reigns. They currently sit 11th in the league on 23 points.

FORM GUIDE

Eastleigh – L-W-W-L-L

The Spitfires are on the back of two defeats. Most recently they travelled to Maidenhead Utd and suffered a 3-2 loss after trailing 2-0 at the break, the side showed promise to get back into the game when Quigley pulled one back in the 55th minute, but Maidenhead were able to hold on.

Prior to that game they welcomed Woking to the Silverlake. Woking came away 1-0 winners thanks to a first half goal from familiar face, Dennon Lewis who scored on the stroke of half time.

The league fixture before that however they beat York City 3-1 at home thanks to a McCallum brace and a goal from Christopher Maguire.

ONES TO WATCH

Joe McDonnell may ring a bell for many Wood supporters as he featured in our play-off semi-final loss to Notts County after coming in on an emergency loan. This season he has featured in every game for the Spitfires and has kept 3 clean sheets.
