IT’S A SELL OUT!

26 November 2021

Boreham Wood Football Club can announce that our home FA Cup tie v St Albans City on Monday, 6th December is now a complete sell out, save for some home tickets that as promised, are being held back for our whistle stop tour with the FA Cup on December 1st.

We as a club, would like to thank our safety officers, our town, our community and both sets of supporters, for their patience and incredible support, as both clubs looked to ensure that as many of our loyal supporters as possible got their prized match tickets.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter commented “all Wood and Saints season ticket holders and our members have now I’m told had ample opportunity to secure their tickets. In fact, we went the extra mile for our supporters by opening up our general sale tickets at both of the recent Maidenhead United and Notts County games which proved popular. We also helped our friends from St Albans City by raising the away allocation from 1,000 to 1,400.

“After all’s been said and done, it’s been a fantastic, if hectic, period for both clubs and we salute St Albans City’s achievements in beating Forest Green Rovers in the previous round. We’re also really pleased that we’ve managed ticket wise to look after our local community, our local schools, our local youth football clubs and I’m satisfied we haven’t overlooked the majority of our local old school fans and their families, who I must say are all very excited to have got their match tickets and have been hugely appreciative of the clubs phased ticket sale approach and new ticketing system.

“I know the Saints gaffer Ian Allinson like the back of my hand, and he will not fear us in the slightest, and I know my young manager Luke Garrard inside out and his experience and track record at this level over the last seven seasons is second to none. In regards to any pressure in the big league and cup games, Luke seems to thrive on that and has already taken us to two National League Play-Offs and to Wembley. He has also in recent years steered us to the 2nd and 3rd Round Proper of this famous competition, and Luke’s dressing rooms have beaten some big league clubs to achieve that.

“On top of that, Luke has us presently sitting second in the National League, we do have home advantage, we are also still unbeaten at home this season and the gaffer and the players will certainly relish the whole occasion and playing on a national stage. That said, this is the FA Cup and of course anything can happen and with the cameras in attendance, that’s often the sign of a favourites’ graveyard.

“All I would say to both sets of supporters is expect the unexpected, expect there to be plenty of FA Cup drama on the night and expect an atmosphere that’s possibly not ever been seen, shared or heard before, certainly not in all of my twenty-three seasons as Chairman at Meadow Park.

“The game is already a sell-out for those reasons and the atmosphere on the night might not ever be repeated, certainly not in my time left here. So, the importance of the occasion is not lost on me and if St Albans City turn up, play well and dump us out of the Cup, then I’ll be the first to congratulate my old gaffer. I’ll wish him and the fans of St Albans City well in the next round, though possibly through gritted teeth haha.

“Anyway, this eagerly awaited FA Cup game is now sold out and thankfully we can now concentrate on tomorrows top of the table clash with Grimsby Town. I know Luke’s match preparations have taken up most of his and the dressing room’s focus this week, as we have already faced a very good Notts County side at Meadow Park on Tuesday night. Which means after we get back on the team coach on Saturday night, that Luke and his management teams’ attention will very quickly turn to St Albans City and the FA Cup. Hunter concluded.

Boreham Wood Football Club can also clarify that the clubs’ FA Cup whistle stop tour scheduled for Wednesday, December 1st will have the famous FA Cup with us at all locations. We will have set timetable and an itinerary to follow. This will be confirmed on Monday, though we can though tell you that we will be visiting Yavneh College, Tesco’s Shenley Rd, Borehamwood Youth, plus we’ll have the Cup onsite at BWFC, before visiting our friends Citygate and finally ending at the Mango Tree.

We hope you can make one of those locations and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible with your camera phones on the day – times and further details to follow.
