SORBS TO GO ON THE TRANSFER LIST

19 October 2020

After last week’s potential transfer of Sorba Thomas not quite materialising on transfer deadline day, Wood Chairman Danny Hunter and Manager Luke Garrard have since sat down with the player and following those discussions, would like to clarify the club’s position.

Hunter said, “The club has sat down with Sorba today and we’ve all aired things honestly and sensibly. As such we’ve all agreed that we will put him on the transfer list with immediate effect. That way, we can then see if there is wider interest and take it from there.

“There’s now 10 weeks before the window reopens and if any interested parties, firstly match our very reasonable valuation, then Sorba and his advisors can explore whether the interested club is for them.

Hunter continued, “I’ve spoken to the player personally in the exact same way that I’ve done over the last six seasons. He’s a great lad and he knows we care, and he knows he’s still very much loved here. That said both Luke and myself accept that he’s now keen to explore his options and we’ll do what we can to help him but we also need to ensure the club’s interests are served too.

“So, for clarity for our supporters, it has been agreed by Sorba, Luke and myself, that we will see if any interest is still out there, we’ll share that information with him in an unhurried and intelligent manner and see what develops over the next two and a half months until the transfer market reopens.

“In the meantime, Sorbs will continue to be a big part of our plans and a big part of what has become a very close-knit squad. As such we’ve all agreed that until something changes, Sorbs needs to get his head down, needs to work hard, and let his undoubted talent do the talking…

“So, with all that in mind, I’ve asked my Chief Exec Charlie Hunter to write up our heads of terms for any interested clubs, and in this climate that will include a sensible staged payment arrangement, to help the player fulfil his EFL aspirations but it will also include a wide range of add on’s.

“Thankfully with all parties blessing, this can now be done in an orderly and professional manner and we hope all parties are happy, as everyone needs to accept that our little club also has it’s own dreams and ambitions and just like Sorba, we also dream about playing in the EFL one day.” Hunter concluded.
