MEADOW PARK ACCEPTED FOR THE ENGLISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE

5 March 2020

Boreham Wood FC are happy to announce that we have had our submission to enter the English Football League accepted by the governing body. This means should the Club achieve its ambition of promotion this season, we will be allowed to take our place in the Football League for the very first time in our history.

Wood Chairman Danny Hunter, who has steered the Club from the Ryman North to the National League over the last 22 seasons said, “It’s always a bit of a relief when you get the necessary league approvals, though I wasn’t too concerned after the work we have carried out around the stadium and facility over the years.

“I’m also so happy that the Town is finally getting behind Luke and the dressing room with a recent increase in support. It’s no secret that I questioned the commitment of the Town earlier in the season, especially after we had a home crowd of just 400 against Sutton, with nearly 200 of those being away supporters. But a lot seems to have changed since then, as our season ticket holders are now regularly coming, our new North Bank has made a huge difference by really getting behind the team and our last four home attendances have averaged over 1,100.”

Hunter concluded, “We also took over 350 fans to Barnet on Tuesday night and the support and noise they made was different class. I’ve always known, that if we were to ever have a shot at reaching the Football League, then we’d need our fans and Town to get behind us and they have – in truth they’ve been absolutely fantastic since Christmas. So, after getting the EFL’s stadium acceptance this week and after witnessing our improved support, I must give credit to my staff and thank our supporters for all making such an effort”.
