EX IPSWICH PRO MAKES SHOTS TO WOOD SWITCH

1 July 2019

Boreham Wood Football Club are delighted to announce that Irish midfielder Adam McDonnell has signed a two-year contract at Meadow Park.

McDonnell, 22, joined Ipswich Town in 2014 and went on to make nine appearances for the Championship side. Fellow Irishman Mick McCarthy handed the technical midfielder his full debut against Doncaster Rovers in a League Cup victory before his first league start for the Tractor Boys followed in May 2016 away at Derby County in a 1-0 win.

McDonnell has since spent the past two seasons at National League side Aldershot Town scoring eight goals in 2018/19.

“I’m very excited to have joined Boreham Wood” stated McDonnell. “After seeing the new stand and new changing rooms and also listening to the plans that the gaffer and chairman have for the future, it feels like a club on the up and I’m looking forward to contributing as much as possible.”

Manager Luke Garrard said: “Adam is a player I’ve liked for a while and when it was made clear to me by his representatives that he was available, I knew I wanted him at Meadow Park. He is at a great age to develop, he’s as ambitious as I am and I think he’ll fit in well with the style of football I want to play and group of players and staff I’m putting in place.”

Welcome to the club, Adam!
