LOAN WATCH

21 February 2019

Fred Burbidge’s Waltham Abbey side fell to a 2-1 defeat against Chesunt away from home at the weekend.

The results leaves the play-off chasing side to 8th place in the Isthmian South Central Division, after 27 matches.

The young Wood stopper kept his team in the match for large periods of the game though, making a key save to deny Brian Moses in the first half. The forward fizzled a low shot towards Burbidge’s near post, but he saved and held.

With Waltham Abbey chasing the game, the 19-year-old also prevented Chesunt from finishing off the match late on. Connor Hogan had broken free of the defence, but Burbidge was quick to react and once again held his shot.

Waltham Abbey take on Tooting and Mitcham United away from home next up in the league, where they will look to get their play-off charge back on track.
