The Wood are back at home this Wednesday, December 26 (1pm), when we welcome local rivals Barnet to Meadow Park, for our first ever match against each other, in the league. Here’s our preview…
Match Details
Boreham Wood Football Club have moved onto an online ticketing system and ticket details can be found HERE. Ticket prices are as follows: Adults £18; OAPS £13, under 16’s £8 and under 12’s £4 (subject to booking fee).
These prices are to sit or stand. The West and East stands are seated, and the North and South ends are standing.
We advise that all supporters planning to attend BWFC matches at Meadow Park, purchase tickets beforehand.
Once purchased, tickets are available to download to supporter’s phones, are accessible on the Ticket Arena app, and can also be printed at home and brought to the game for entry.
Tickets will still be available to purchase on the day of the game, but at an increased rate of £2 (£3 for U12s).
For home supporters, cash payments will be available on the East Stand turnstile, and card payments in the Gallery Suite bar. Away supporters will also be able to purchase tickets on the away gate in the West Stand, with cash.
The match will be segregated, and the nearest public car park is stationed in Brook Road and adjacent to stadium.
Team News
Danny Woodards returned to the squad for the game against Braintree Town and will once again be available on Boxing Day.
The Wood gaffer is managing a knock to Justin Shaibu and expects the forward to feature on Boxing Day.
Form Guide
The Wood drew last time out, 1-1 away to Braintree Town at Cressing Road.
The hosts had opened the scoring in the first half, but the Wood battled back and were deserving of a point away from home.
Justin Shaibu netted the goal, as he continued his remarkable run of form, notching his fifth in three matches.
The draw means that the Wood are now unbeaten in four matches, and they will look to continue that run over the Christmas period.
The result leaves them in midtable over Christmas, sitting in 12th place in the Naitonal League.
Managed by the experienced John Still, Barnet initially struggled to get to grips with the National League.
However, they have now won three of their last five matches, and are looking to continue their climb up the table.
One to Watch – Wesley Fonguck
A goal-scoring midfielder, who already has six goals to his name this season, Fonguck has been a key player for John Still so far.
The youngster graduated through the Barnet academy, having been signed from local side Croydon.
The 21-year-old made his first team debut as a substitute against Crawley Town back in 2016, before making his first start in 2017, against Grimsby Town.
An England C international, Fonguck will be vital for Barnet on Boxing Day.

“I am a Barnet boy, I went and watched Sean Devine at Underhill, on the terraces with my brother and my old man – I saw them win the Conference with Giuliano Grazioli.
“There is no hidden agenda on my part, I am Boreham Wood manager, and I want to win a game of football against Barnet – I want to win two games of football against Barnet.
“It is a local derby, we are six/seven miles away from them in Edgware, and not only that, it is Boxing Day. Everyone wants to come and watch a game of football on Boxing Day.
“I am really excited to be welcoming them to the club. I think that it shows where we have come as a club, I have got to say that.
“Considering that we played three or four leagues below them, when they were in League Two at one stage. To play them on a level par, as opposed to an FA Cup game, is pretty impressive in terms of the work that the Chairman has done.
“We are not here to make up the numbers though, we are here to win games of football and on Wednesday 26th, I am hopeful that the fans turn out and give as much vocal support as possible, because for me, I think that it is going to be our biggest game of the season.”
