MANNY PARRY: WE ARE UNBEATEN IN THREE AND WE WANT TO KEEP THAT RUN GOING

Boreham Wood defender Manny Parry was pleased with a point earned, following the 1-1 draw away to Halifax Town on Tuesday.

The Wood left The Shay with a solid point on the road and we caught up with Manny Parry at full-time, to hear his thoughts on the game.

“When you come on a long journey away against these sides, it’s good to come away with something,” said Parry. “Of course, we would have liked the three points, but at least after travelling all this way, we came away with a point.

“It’s a good point, because a lot of the boys played extra time on Saturday in difficult conditions and it was a heavy pitch out there.”

After a gruelling match on Saturday against Torquay United, that went to extra-time, Parry was proud of his team mates that played again on Tuesday evening.

“The pitch was heavy today. There were crazy conditions on Saturday though, and I don’t think it was worse than that tonight, but everyone dug in so well after playing extra time, and coming here on a Tuesday night after a long journey. Credit to the boys for putting in such a good shift.

“I think it was difficult for the boys who played an extra half an hour in difficult conditions on Saturday.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen conditions like that in football. Everyone recovered well, came up here today and put in a good shift, to come away with a point, deservedly I think.”

An early goal from Justin Shaibu put Boreham Wood in the driving seat, until a goal from Halifax’s Dayle Southwell just minutes from half-time, levelled the score.

“I think we started really well and when you come away from home, you expect the home team to turn up and get a spell in the game and I think we kept the home fans quiet until they scored the goal.

“In the second half, I felt that we were the team that were going to get the second, but it wasn’t meant to be.”

Looking ahead to The Wood’s next fixture against Braintree Town, Parry is confident that the team can continue to push on throughout Christmas period.

“It’s going to be a difficult ground I imagine, with the changing weather, so pitches aren’t going to be the best.

“We’ve just got to go with the same mentality. We are unbeaten in three and we want to keep that run going and the main aim will be to pick up the three points.

“Now it’s just about getting through the Christmas period. Hopefully we won’t have any injuries and can pick up as many points as we can and see where we are from there.”
