For the first time in our history, the Wood will compete in the IRN-BRU Cup this Saturday, September 8 (1pm), when we welcome Dunfermline Athletic to Meadow Park. Here’s our preview…
Match Details
Boreham Wood Football Club have now moved onto an online ticketing system and home supporter’s tickets can be found HERE. Pre-purchase ticket prices are as follows: Adults £18; OAPS £13, under 16’s £8 and under 12’s £4.
These prices are to sit or stand. The West and East stands are seated, and the North and South stands are standing.
We advise that all supporters planning to attend BWFC matches at Meadow Park, purchase tickets beforehand.
Once purchased, tickets are available to download to supporter’s phones, are accessible on the Ticket Arena app, and can also be printed at home and brought to the game for entry.
Tickets will still be available to purchase on the gate, on the day of the game, but at an increased rate of £2 in each category. Please note; match gates will now be card only.
The match will be segregated, and the nearest public car park is stationed in Brook Road and adjacent to stadium.
Team News
Luke Garrard has no fresh injury concerns going into the game.
Ellery Balcombe remains away on international duty, with the England Under 20s.
Form Guide
The Wood made it three wins in their last four matches, when they beat Chesterfield 1-0 at home on Tuesday night.
Jamal Fyfield netted his second goal in as many games, when he headed the Wood into a first half lead.
Ryan Huddart returned to the line-up in place of Ellery Balcombe and duly helped the Wood to hold onto the 1-0 lead.
Garrard’s side remain unbeaten at home this season and will be looking to continue that run in the Scottish Challenge Cup.
Managed by 44-year-old Allan Johnston, Dunfermline currently sit in eigth place, in the Scottish Championship.
They have won just once in four matches so far this season, and will be looking for a win to change their fortunes.
One to Watch – Faissal El Bakhtaoui
A relative unknown when he initially arrived at the club, then manager Jim Jefferies had taken a gamble on the untried French Moroccan.
The move paid off as El Bakhtaoui proved instrumental in Dunfermline’s League One title win in 2015/16, scoring 30 goals that campaign.
He would later depart for Dundee following his success at Dunfermline Athletic, much to the disappointment of Pars supporters.
However, he is now back at Dunfermline and could play a big part on Saturday.

“I am embracing the fact that we are playing in the competition and it has been a nice distraction away from what we normally do in the National League.
“For me, watching them against the likes of Ayr United, Inverness and Hearts has been a little bit foreign.
“But, we have taken it like a National League game and today has been very much focused on opposition. It is very much about continuing the work we have done in recent weeks.
“Watching them against Inverness, in large parts of the game they were very dominant.
“They played a system and a shape, and it will be the first time we are coming up against it, if they were to continue with the shape they played against Inverness.
“We are excited to welcome them, and we are looking forward to an away base, in terms of Dunfermline fans coming here.
“I would like to have a bumper crowd here ourselves come Saturday, to give the boys as much support as possible.”
