The Wood are on the road again this Saturday, October 14 (12.30) when they make the short seven-mile journey to St Albans. Here’s our preview……..
Match Details
Entrance fees for the game are as follows: Adults £15; OAPS £10 and Juniors £5.
Crowd segregation will be in place at Clarence Park on Saturday and Wood supporters have been allocated the Hatfield Road terrace.
This means that entrance will be via the turnstile nearest the railway, at the west side of Clarence Park.
The clubhouse bar will operate on a home supporters only basis, due to the positioning of the segregation, but there will be refreshments available in the segregated area.
St Albans have reminded supporters that they ‘reserve the right to search all persons entering the ground, and to refuse entry, or to eject any person refusing to submit to a search.’
Turnstiles will open from 11.00am onwards, with kick off at 12.30pm. The club have advised supporters to arrive early to avoid possible queues.
Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter will be putting on a free continental breakfast from 9am for travelling supporters, in the Gallery Suite at Meadow Park.
Every adult BWFC supporter who has breakfast at the club, will also receive a free drinks voucher (one voucher per person). This can be redeemed at the bar directly after your return, providing that you are back by 4pm.
Team News
The Wood have no fresh injury concerns going into the fixture.
Angelo Balanta was not risked against Halifax, but he has once again trained all week and hopes to return to the side against St Albans.
With Balanta fit, Luke Garrard hopes to have a fully fit squad to choose from come Saturday.
Form Guide
The Wood are unbeaten in three matches following Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Halifax Town, but will feel that they should have taken all three points from Billy Heath’s side.
Bruno Andrade’s eighth minute strike opened the scoring at Meadow Park, but the Shaymen equalised with less than 10 minutes to go.
Andrade’s eighth minute goal was his eighth of the season, leaving him as the join top scorer in the Vanarama National League.
St Albans City beat Bridport 2-1 in the last round of the FA Cup, thanks to goals from Shaun Lucien and Percy Kiangebeni.
Managed by former Boreham Wood boss Ian Allinson, St Albans haven’t lost in eight matches and sit joint top of the National League South.
From the Dugout – Luke Garrard
“It is good for it to be a local derby and there is a lot of history between the clubs. But, for me it is just another cup game and it is one game before the first-round draw and that is something that we have earmarked this year. We want to try and get as far as we can.
“Ian Allinson has assembled a superb side up there and they are obviously joint top with Braintree. But, we have done them to death in terms of what they do, their shape and their personnel.
“I learnt a lot under Ian and I owe him a lot, I have the upmost respect for him in terms of what he done for me and what he has done for St Albans.
“He has a certain way of playing, whether that changes or not, but I know that he was in the stand for our match against Eastleigh, and I felt that we put on a performance where he would have been left thinking that we are a proper good side.
“My business is about getting my boys focused and playing to a tempo and an energy, which I know we can do, and if we do, then we are a match for anyone in the National League, let alone the National League South.”
