Team News

Luke Garrard has a fully fit squad to choose from, following a successful final week of training.

With a number of new additions to the squad, Garrard has a plethora of options to choose from going into the new campaign.

The 31-year-old has tested a number of different formations in pre-season, and could opt for any of these against a strong Fylde outfit.

New signing Jamie Turley will go straight into the squad for the season’s opener and will hope to make his debut against Fylde.

Form Guide

The Wood have enjoyed a highly succesful pre-season, losing just twice to esteemed opposition in Luton Town and a strong Arsenal XI.

The highlight of pre-season was a 1-7 win away at Wingate & Finchley, however the side finished their preparations with a convincing 4-1 win against a Barnet XI.

AFC Fylde secured promotion to the National League for the first time in their history last season, winning the National League North Title with a game to spare.

Dave Challinor’s side scored over 100 goals and secured over 100 points in the prossess and will be confident coming into the new campaign.

From the Dugout – Luke Garrard

“I think that it is going to be a tough test, if you look at Fylde last year, they had 100+ goals and 100+ points, it is a habit, they won week-in-week-out.

“But, after our pre-season and the work that we have done in terms of how we think we are going to go and exploit them on Saturday, I am positive and the group are positive.

“You can probably name five or six of their players from last year who could have played at this level already and on top of that they have recruited well.

“They play a shape and a system that benefits them, but for me it is about us going there and being positive, doing what we want to do and putting our game plan into work.

“We have a system that I believe will get us onto the front foot and we have given the boys an idea and an understanding of how I think we are going to go out and get in their faces.

“If we are positive and if the players understand what is being asked of them, then I think that we can get a result come Saturday.”
