MATCH PREVIEW: BRAINTREE TOWN VS BOREHAM WOOD

14 February 2016

This Tuesday Wood travel to Cressing Road eager to keep up the momentum after Saturday’s well earned point and clean sheet at Blundell Park. This re arranged tie, originally due to have taken place on January 2nd, gives Luke Garrard the opportunity to post a second win against League opposition for the first time this season.

Town Manager Danny Cowley has cited the game as , “ The chance to settle a score after losing at Meadow Park, “ whilst Wood Gaffer Luke Garrard is; “ Looking forward to the game with nothing to fear.”

Since Wood’s 1-0 victory over the Iron on Boxing Day, our opposition from Essex have picked up ten points out of a possible fifteen. That includes three back to back home victories against Wrexham, Chester and Welling United, Those wins form part of a formidable run of seven home League matches without conceding, which goes all the way back to September 2015.

Town are one of only four sides in the Division who have conceded less goals than Wood so far this season.

Their last outing saw Cowley return from Southport with a point in a 1-1 draw. Recent signing Joe Gardner, a 25 year old winger signed from Cowley’s old club Concord Rangers made his debut coming off the bench.

The Iron are enjoying another superb season, currently just a point outside the play off spots with games in hand over all of their rivals. In contrast Wood will be looking for a first win in the League since the last time the two sides met, to hopefully climb out of the bottom four.

Our last visit to play the Iron was back in August 2010 , when the home side won 3-2 in a game of two halves, before going on to be crowned Champions of the Conference South.
