MATCH PREVIEW: BOREHAM WOOD VS WESTON-SUPER-MARE

11 December 2013

by John Mead.

Wood entertain the mid table Seagulls in this their second of three straight home fixtures this coming Saturday. After the disappointment of losing to Sutton United in a game where both sides were left to agree the referee forced the result with some poor decisions, Wood will be fired up to make amends.

Our play on Tuesday especially in the first half was some of the best seen this season, belying our current league position.

It is a shame that another harsh decision from the man in the middle cost us dearly in our reverse fixture down in Somerset earlier this season. Mark Bentley was dismissed just before half time for two debatable yellow cards which showed up some appalling inconsistency from the man in black.
We went on to concede three times in the second half. Let us hope and pray that we can be allowed to seek revenge for that defeat on a level playing field this time around.

The visitors are having a reasonable campaign albeit with some unpredictable results. Back in October they lost 0-6 at home to Ebbsfleet United, a result that turned the tide of fortune for the now high flying Kent side, then recorded a 5-0 victory just two weeks later over Concord Rangers!

More recently a hard fought 2-2 draw at home to Bishops Stortford was preceded by a 2-0 defeat on the road at Eastbourne Borough.

In the F A Trophy our visitors held Aldershot on their own soil, before succumbing to a 2-5 defeat in the replay.

The task at hand is simple for Ian Allinson, “ We find ourselves locked in a relegation battle already going into the Christmas period. We have been here before but the difference this time is we actually have the squad in place required to get out of this predicament. Wins will come, we are scoring goals again and need to ensure in the coming six games we climb to a more respectable mid table position to regroup going into the New Year.”

Wood fans are urged to come down to Meadow Park and help turn the tide against the Seagulls this Saturday.
