AMBITIOUS “WOOD” STRENGTHEN AGAIN

31 January 2013

Boreham Wood are more than delighted to announce the exciting signing of Piero Mingoia on a long term loan until the end of this season from close neighbours Watford Football Club.

Mingoia who joined Watford at the age of 13 and rose through the ranks. Before eventually signing professional terms towards the end of the 2009/10 season, by penning a one-year deal following the conclusion of his two-year scholarship.

He marked his full 1st team debut on 8 January 2011, against Hartlepool United in the FA Cup, with a fine curling goal from 25 yards, as Watford went on to win the game 4–1.

He then made his league debut for Watford in the 3–0 home win against Derby County on 15 January 2011, coming on as a 81st minute substitute for Marvin Sordell.

Piero made 4 more appearances during the 2010/11 season and was rewarded with a new two-year contract extension.

Piero has also enjoyed loan spells with Hayes & Yeading United, when they were in the Conference National and has just finished a stint at League Two side Accrington Stanley. Mingoia’s initial month loan deal with Accrington in September 2012 was very successful and therefore was extended for a further two months, keeping Mingoia at Stanley until the end of 2012.

However, Piero returned to Watford for the New Year and Boreham Wood are now delighted to capture the signing of this bright young talent. Piero will join up with his cousin Mario Noto who also happens to be BWFC’s head coach and Captain, as well as his former Watford team mate Chez Isaacs. This is yet another show of the clubs ambitions, as it looks to push on and secure a play-off place come late April.

Manager, Ian Allinson said “We really are delighted to capture the signing of Piero from Watford on a long term loan. He is an exciting young prospect, who we’ve known about for years and we’ve followed his career closely. When his services became available to us on loan, we didn’t hesitate as he will be a great addition to our squad and will I’m sure contribute to our promotion push.”

Chairman Danny Hunter said “The relationship and trust we enjoy with certain pro clubs is very rewarding at times. I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank everyone at Watford Football Club, for their support and we hope it continues to grow stronger year on year. Everyone at Boreham Wood Football Club welcomes Piero to Meadow Park and hopes that his stay with us can see the club achieve its ambitions of promotion this Season”..
