The Search Begins for Local Elite Players

24 May 2012

Boreham Wood FC PASE Scheme is now looking for young talented footballers to study A Levels and who live in the Hertfordshire area. They will be part of our Boreham Wood FC PASE Scheme in partnership with Verulam School in St Albans that offers students/players the opportunity to progress academically and alongside their football.

We offer a wide range of A-Levels that will take place exclusively at Verulam School. A-Level courses are more demanding academically and will conflict with the majority of daytime training sessions. This would normally impact on your improvement as a player. So we have timetabled your training with great care, so we do not affect your education but still allow you the time to progress as a footballer. Only the students who show the highest level of ability in the football trials will be offered the opportunity to do A-Levels.

Successful applicants will join our Elite Squad, who over the last 3 seasons have achieved great success with 8 of our boys representing England at College and England Schools Level and also a number of boys having gone onto win Scholarships in the USA. Our Elite group this season has once again enjoyed immeasurable success reaching the Conference National Cup Semi-final, and ECFA National Cup final, along with the 1st Round proper of FA Youth Cup.

They retained the Southern Counties Floodlit Youth Corinthian League for the 6th consecutive year, won the Brian Hitchings Cup and the SCFYL ‘Champion of Champions’. Please note; being part of the BWFC PASE Scheme will not stop players continuing to play football for their weekend team either on a Saturday or Sunday if they so wish.

Throughout the year we play a number of quality Academy sides, including Reading and Watford amongst others. It allows us to test ourselves against recognised Academies and gauge our players progress. In fact through this process and the quality of our Playing Squads, we are now entering into an Exclusive Player Partnership with Premiership new boys Reading Football Club (specifics will be announced shortly).

It is also a fact that BWFC’s PASE Scheme has a proven track record of producing players for the professional ranks and with many of our boys also progressing into BWFC’s 1st Team or to a good level of non-league football, the Academy and Clubs future is bright!

If you are 16 – 18 and would like to study A Levels or wish to do various other courses and be a part of the Boreham Wood PASE Scheme please visit http://www.borehamwoodfootballclub.co.uk and download an information booklet and application form, by visiting the ‘EDUCATION’ section of this website or contact the football department direct on 020 8953 5716.
