MATCH PREVIEW – Beavers Look To Destroy Wood

1 April 2012

By John Mead

Next up at Meadow Park are Hampton & Richmond Borough F.C., one of the few sides in the League that boast  better current form stats than Wood.    But are they not struggling at the foot of the table you ask?    Well not at all, as our friends from the banks of the Thames are in blistering from, unbeaten in their last six outings!

In what was a brilliant month for the Middlesex side, they have clawed their way out of the bottom three, albeit on goal difference and have the luxury of games in hand over their nearest rivals.    A magnificent feat considering only Thurrock protected them from the trap door just four weeks ago.

Wins at Dover Athletic and Weston-super-Mare, a three point haul at home in a seven goal thriller against Truro City, coupled with home draws against Sutton United yesterday, Dover Athletic and Maidenhead United, gave Mark Harper’s side twelve points from their last six outings.

Even we cannot match that having lost our way in the fog down in Cornwall, giving Wood eleven points from the last six matches.    That said Wood, are in blistering form, having lost just once in the last ten outings.

It promises to be an exciting game which will be a nailbiting evening for all the struggling sides.

Wood will be without Sam Cox who was released from hospital Sunday with concussion, plus there are doubts over Mauro Vilhete who picked up a knock against Dover Athletic.    With  Messrs Garrard, Noto and Brathwaite already ruled out, it will, according to Ian Allinson, “Be a brilliant opportunity for some of the younger Squad members to step up to the mark and show us how far they have come in our remaining games.    This has come about purely due to our injury list, make no mistake we have our sights firmly set on the highest possible finish as we look to cement a Squad capable of challenging at the top end of the table next Season.”

Boreham Wood versus Hampton & Richmond Borough.    Monday 2 April Kick off: 7.45pm.
