Boreham Wood Football Club welcomes boys from the ages of 16-19 years old for its sixth and final open trial on Tuesday, 12th July 2011 at Cohenel College’s Enfield site, registration 10.30am.
Boreham Wood’s PASE scheme, in cooperation with Cohenel College and Verulam School, is considered the outstanding model of its kind. It provides a balanced mixture of football and education, as well as an ethos that finds a level for every ability of student/player.
Cohenel College and Verulam School work closely with the club to offer a huge variety of College and A-Level courses, ranging from Sport B-TEC’s and Construction courses to all A-Level subjects offered. This is so every boy has a chance to continue with level of education they want and are capable of.
Over the years, the PASE scheme has been hugely successful on and off the pitch. Off the pitch the club is growing on all fronts to do with football, notably with its full time medical department, lead by Megan Reid and Kyriacos Ioannou. The clubs medical team provide injury rehabilitation, injury prevention advice, nutritional advice, as well as personal fitness and gym programs.
The quality of coaching at Boreham Wood is also highly commendable. Luke Garrard, Mario Noto, Daryl McMahon and Ryan Kirby, all ex-professional footballers, are responsible for the provision of training sessions and team management within the PASE scheme. Luke Garrard made his debut for Swindon Town aged just 17, Mario Noto was previously with Tottenham Hotspur and Reading, Daryl McMahon began his career at West Ham United before playing over 70 times for Leyton Orient and lastly Ryan Kirby made over 400 football league appearances, including a spell with Arsenal FC.
