WOOD UNDER 18’S PROGRESS THROUGH TO NEXT ROUND OF FA YOUTH CUP

26 September 2011

With local rivals Wealdstone, Wingate and Finchley and St Albans all going out of the FA Youth Cup this week, all eyes were on Boreham Wood’s Under 18’s when they travelled to face a very tricky away tie in Essex against fancied Brentwood on Wednesday night.

Boreham Wood ran out convincing winners 2-0, with goals from central defender Hadley McCarthy and wide man Larry Balagon to advance to the next round of the prestigious competition.

‘Wood’s’ youngsters will face Bishops Stortford in the second qualifying round, date to be confirmed, however will be played week commencing Monday 3rd October.

Boreham Wood are just two wins away from before they face a tie against the professional teams. In previous seasons ‘Wood’ have been drawn against Leyton Orient and Swansea City, but failed to progress past a professional line up in a competitive fixture. So come down and support the boys in their FA Youth Cup run.
