‘Wood’s’ Under 16’s ran out 15-0 winners in the County Cup 2nd Round on Sunday against local rival St. Albans City. The ‘Wood’ youngsters, who ply their trade in the Eastern Junior Alliance, progressed into the next round of the Cup comprehensively with goals from Ejike Akubude (6), Benjy Aghadiuno (5), Alex Morgan (2), Malachy McGovern and Luke Lane.

The team is currently on a 5 game win streak following a 2-1 opening day defeat to EJA reigning champions Broxbourne Borough. Wood have since won all 5 games, scoring 35 goals and conceding 0.

Special mentions must also go to Alex Morgan, Jack Gibbs, Alex Radu, Malachy McGovern and Fred Burbidge who have all featured or been in Under 18 FA Youth Cup squads, as our latest crop of Under 18’s are just 1 game from a luxurious 1st Round Proper tie against local rivals Barnet.
