THE ROAD TO WEMBLEY STARTS SATURDAY

25 September 2013

Boreham Wood travel to Calor League Division One Central Barton Rovers for an F A Cup 2nd Qualifying Round Tie this Saturday.

Rovers are enjoying a superb start to the season currently sitting second in the League having won five and drawn two of their eight fixtures to date. Amongst the victories were impressive wins on the road at Kettering Town 0-3 and Beaconsfield SYCOB 0-4.

Their last outing at Sough Town proved less fruitful however as they slumped to a shock 4-0 defeat.

Rovers overcame Uxbridge 2-3 away in the last round after having previously dispatched Ampthill Town 4-0 to reach this stage in the competition. They are three matches away from matching their best ever run in the competition. That was in the 1980-81 season when they lost 2-0 down at Torquay United in the First Round Proper.

The two sides last met in a competitive game back in January 2005, when we were on the end of a 2-0 defeat up at a frozen Sharpenhoe Road. In those days we plied our trade in the Southern League Division One East, the same level at which Rovers have stayed since.

However Rovers will know a bit about us having visited Meadow Park this pre season for a friendly against out PASE squad, in which they ran out 3-4 winners.

Wood know they will need to be professional and be in amongst the goals if they are to mount a Cup run this season.

Wood fans are encouraged to come out in numbers to support the side in this magical competition!

Barton Rovers v Boreham Wood, Sharpenhoe Road, Barton-Le-Clay MK45 4SP.

Saturday September 28th, kick off 3pm.
