OSCARS is the most intimate and stylish of all our events spaces here at Meadow Park. This space can hold events for up to 44 (seated) and 60 (open plan), so it is an ideal space for small gatherings. With 11 flat screen TV’s and connectivity, it also makes the space perfect for conferencing, presentations and meetings. OSCARS has previously been used for baby showers, corporate dinners and events, intimate special events and even wakes, amongst other purposes, too.
So, why is it called OSCARS? Two reasons. Firstly, due to our Chairman Danny Hunter’s esteemed career as a Property Master within the film industry, working on some of the most recognised films of the 20th century, including Full Metal Jacket, Shakespeare in Love and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, to name just a few. Secondly, added to Danny’s background within film, the town of Borehamwood (and Elstree) has been synonymous with the UK film and TV industry for over a century, and is currently home to Elstree Studios, BBC Elstree Centre and the new Sky Studios, Elstree. Elstree Studios itself is best known as the birthplace of George Lucas’ Star Wars, whilst critically acclaimed films such as Indiana Jones, Superman, The Shining and Labrinth, to name just a few, were shot within the Studios.
Coupling these two reasons with the Club’s desire to create an environment that befits a premium events/hospitality space, we felt that the name OSCARS captured the mood perfectly.
