ARSENAL COMING TO TOWN…

30 June 2014

PRE-SEASON SPLASH PAGE

Boreham Wood Football Club are absolutely delighted to announce that Arsenal Football Club and manager Arsene Wenger, have agreed to bring both the FA Cup they won in May and a very strong Arsenal side to Meadow Park this Pre-season, on Saturday, July 19th with a 3pm kick off.

NEW STANDThe game will form part of Boreham Wood Football Club’s official opening of our newly completed 890 seater West Stand and will on the advice of Arsenal be an all ticket affair. A sell-out crowd of 3800 is anticipated, especially when the Arsenal fans and Borehamwood public realise that the likes of Ramsey, Arteta, Flamini, Gibbs, Szczesny, Rosicky, Monreal, Jenkinson and Sanogo, are all expected to play.

Dependant on the World Cup and how far certain countries go, other Arsenal first teamers may also be in attendance. We’ve been told Arsenal will use the game as part of their preparation for their American tour, as they then fly to New York to play the New York Red Bulls the following week and that game is already sold out.

Boreham Wood Football Club can proudly boast an ongoing association with Arsenal that has spanned over two decades. Our Meadow Park stadium has in fact been the home to the Arsenal Ladies, the Arsenals Reserves, the Development squads and the Arsenal U/18 FA Youth Cup squad over that time.gun__1380788754_u19_napoli

Boreham Wood Football Club Chairman Danny Hunter said ” In my time in the Chair, we’ve looked after so many of the Arsenal teams over the last 15 seasons. Our relationship with Arsenal remains strong and the values and standards they set are a benchmark and still mean something. As a club I look up to them and by their actions in this instance, they have again done me, the club and the non-league game proud by giving something back to a grass roots football club”.

To put things into perspective, the gate receipts will enable us to re-invest further in our pitch, invest more in our infra-structure and invest in our academy transport system as that was showing a shortfall”.

“As always running a football club at our level, is a balancing act and Arsenals actions, would in reality providing we get a sell-out equate to us getting to the FA Cup first round proper next season and being the club chosen by the FA as the main TV game. That is honestly how big it could be and as such I am hugely grateful to Mr Wenger, club secretary David Miles and everyone at Arsenal”.. He concluded.

Tickets for the friendly can be purchased online from our box office or by calling the club directly on 02089535716.
